First Katzine of 2017 – The Factory Issue!

First Katzine of 2017 – The Factory Issue!

Cover7

Lately I’ve been very hard at work rushing to get a full rough draft of my long book finished. But it was nice to take a month off and make a new Katzine… I’m really proud of how this one turned out. I’d been wanting for a while to do a longer story instead of trying to squeeze in as many different things as possible – so this one has an episode of Sergio Talk, a featured plant, a graphic-novel sneak-peek… and then the rest is one long single story. It’s about a factory job I had in 2003/2004 when I lived in Amsterdam. During that period I saved the money that would allow me to travel to Mexico and Central America in 2004… the subject of my graphic-novel-in-progress.

Drawing this story made me think about a lot of the stuff that’s going on in politics at the moment. At the start of the zine I’ve written a little bit about the European Union and my experiences working there with people from all over the world.

Holiday sketches

My friend Katie Green (who is a fantastic illustrator/writer/zine-maker) accompanied me for most of the trip. We rented a cottage on Skye and had a week of unexpectedly good weather, walking and lamb/calf/bird-spotting.…Continue Reading

Cornwall sketches

I recently spent a week in Cornwall and tried to do a sketch every day. I managed to only miss one!               I love the little fishing harbour where I stayed – watching the fishing boats and walking along the coast. The water there is unbelievably green. I love…Continue Reading
