Lately I’ve been very hard at work rushing to get a full rough draft of my long book finished. But it was nice to take a month off and make a new Katzine… I’m really proud of how this one turned out. I’d been wanting for a while to do a longer story instead of trying to squeeze in as many different things as possible – so this one has an episode of Sergio Talk, a featured plant, a graphic-novel sneak-peek… and then the rest is one long single story. It’s about a factory job I had in 2003/2004 when I lived in Amsterdam. During that period I saved the money that would allow me to travel to Mexico and Central America in 2004… the subject of my graphic-novel-in-progress.
Drawing this story made me think about a lot of the stuff that’s going on in politics at the moment. At the start of the zine I’ve written a little bit about the European Union and my experiences working there with people from all over the world.
To celebrate my first new zine of the year, I’m going to do a pre-order offer. Anyone ordering before the 13th March (when I’m going to start sending out orders) will get a bonsai tree drawn in the front of their zine. Current subscribers will also get drawings!
